Echelon Planning has prepared a Masterplan for an employment precinct in the Northern Grampians township of Stawell. The Western Stawell Business Precinct is currently home to the Frewstal livestock processing facility – a business which employs over 400 workers and is rapidly expanding into export markets. The Masterplan seeks to protect this major employer from residential encroachment, as well as creating opportunities for new agricultural, food processing and tourism businesses to establish in the township.
The plan makes provision for a series of new industrial and commercial subdivisions, as well as upgraded access to the Western Highway and relocation of an existing rail crossing. It addresses development issues such as drainage and flooding, native vegetation, cultural heritage, bushfire risk, EPA buffers, building and landscape design requirements.
The Plan was prepared on behalf of Northern Grampians Shire Council, with funding support from Regional Development Victoria.
