Inner Melbourne Action Plan
Echelon Planning prepared the new Action Plan for inner Melbourne on behalf of the five inner Melbourne local Councils. Inner Melbourne is expected to undergo unprecedended growth in residents, workers and visitors in coming decades – and a regional plan is needed to facilitate this growth whilst at the same time taking actions to protect and enhance the livability of the region.
Prepared on behalf of the cities of Melbourne, Port Phillip, Yarra, Stonnington and Maribyrnong, the plan sets out how inner Melbourne will be different in ten years’ time, as well as the actions that the IMAP members will take in order to achieve the desired future outcome. It includes strategies relating to economic development, transport, population and housing growth, urban design and environment.
Echelon prepared the plan following an extensive process of workshops and facilitated discussions with Councillors, senior executives from state and local government as well as over 70 technical and policy staff from across the five inner city Councils. Once adopted, the plan will form the basis of collaboration between the State Government and the five inner City Councils on a wide range of projects for the coming decade.
